New Intern at Southtown

I am a senior political science major at University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). After graduating in May, I plan on pursuing an MPA (Master of Public Affairs/Public Administration). At the moment I am awaiting admissions decisions from several universities in the Midwest. In my free time I enjoy yoga, reading, and volunteering as a dog walker at Wayside Waifs.

My interest in economic development and urban planning led me to Southtown. Observing the day-to-day organization of the Community Improvement Districts and Business Associations operated by the Southtown Planning Center has been quite informative. My time here has only reinforced my desire to pursue an MPA and a career in public service.

As a KC transplant I enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community I now consider home. I want to say “thank you” to Southtown and the staff for giving me the opportunity to work here and creating such a fun work environment.
