It is with much excitement that I enter into 2015 as Southtown's new President. This organization continues to serve as a catalyst for change and growth throughout our neighborhoods, and 2015 will be no different. As we look forward to the upcoming year, it will certainly be a year of new beginnings, and therefore new possibilities.
Thank you to the following organizations that joined/renewed their membership with the Southtown Council for 2015 during the month of December:
Brookside Senior Housing at Rockhill Greens, 6700 Troost Ave., celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony in December. The site, formerly home to a medical building high-rise that was demolished, is now home for more than 46 senior citizens.
On December 22nd, a big thank you was extended to the maintenance and security personnel who are contracted through the three Community Improvement Districts– Waldo, Brookside and Troost CID’s.

The National Retail Federation estimates holiday sales will increase 4.1% to $616.9 billion. The average increase in holiday sales for the past 10 years is 2.9%. Wouldn’t it be great if lots of those dollars stayed in the Kansas City area to boost our local economy? Why buy local?
