Southtown’s Star Summer Intern

Hello everyone! I am Bre Hunter, a proud Kansas City, Missouri native. Currently I am a Speech Communications major with a theatre emphasis at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. It is truly a privilege and an honor to be serving with the Southtown Council this summer. Seeing what goes on in the office of such a great organization is mind-blowing! I have already learned so many things within the past four weeks. My passion for people and community engagement push me to be a better citizen of the KC Metro area. My appreciation for Southtown has increased enormously. What a joy it is to see people working endlessly for the betterment of the place we call home. I would like to thank The Full Employment Council for giving me this opportunity, my family, friends and supporters who have motivated me to excel despite any hardships life may throw at me. I look forward to spending the next few weeks with Sean, Dorna and Natalie here at Southtown. Like Bill Clinton said, “We all do better when we work together. Our differences do matter, but our common humanity matters more.” With high regards, Bre L. Hunter

Special thanks to The Full Employment Council (FEC) for their partnership this summer. Bre was brought to us through their young adult career services which provide readiness training, real world work experience, career guidance and other support. The programs support Missouri's emerging workforce, ages 16 to 24, who want to jump start on their future. “The experience has been excellent. Bre is bright, energetic, and motivated, and it has been our great pleasure to work with her this summer. We’re also proud to support The Full Employment Council and their efforts to improve our community through opportunities for our young adults.” Sean Ackerson, Southtown Council Executive Director
