Southtown took the opportunity recently to celebrate the many improvements and good works of people in the community at the Annual Southtown Beautification event. “Under the Big Top” was held at the Uptown Theatre on August 23rd where more than 180 people enjoyed lunch and a presentation of the awards. Thirteen area businesses, institutions, neighborhoods and associations were recognized.
The “Southtowner” of the Year Award was presented to Karl Roscoe, administrator at the Wornall Rd. Baptist Church and volunteer extraordinaire. Rockhurst University was awarded the “Ring Master-” Public Achievement Award with Chancellor Leo Morton making the presentation.
