The 2017 Kansas City Marathon will take place Saturday, October 21, between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM. This great event may create delays for many of our Southtown area, Brookside and Troost businesses and neighborhoods, so we encourage you to plan ahead and be patient. We also encourage businesses to make employees and customers aware to avoid unnecessary frustration. To help you plan, the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation has put together a map with benchmark locations and approximately when you should expect the first and last runner along that point of the course. View or download the map at http://www.sportkc.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Marathon_road-closure-....
During the race, vehicles will be allowed to cross the road only when there are gaps in participants, and police officers deem it safe to do so. The Kansas City Police Department has been contracted to provide appropriate traffic control during the race to foster safe travel for you and the 10,000 participants along the course.
If you have road closure questions? Please email racedirector@kcmarathon.org, or on race day, please call (816) 701-9143. Additional information can be found online at www.sportkc.org/marathon/.
