That's right...Southtown has gone global for this year's Annual Beautification Awards Dinner![img_assist|nid=667|title=|link=node|align=left|width=229|height=220]
On May 17, fourteen projects, organizations, and individuals will be recognized at the Uptown Theatre for helping to "beautify" Southtown. The evening begins with a social hour, featuring "Ports of Call" refreshments at 6pm followed by a buffet dinner and program of International flavor and intrigue, concluding by 9 p.m.
The beautification award recipients include:
· Small business - Liberty Tax Service, Mike's Tavern
· Medium size business - Brookside Barkery and Bath
· Institution - Research Medical Center, Swope Community Builders and Swope Health Services
· Non-profit - Habitat ReStore
· New Construction - The Troost Max, KC Zoo Polar Bear Passage, UMKC Student Union and Library expansion
· Public Improvement - 63rd Street Improvement Project
· Outstanding Tulip Achievement - Marlborough Community Coalition
· "Southtowner" of the Year - Kevin Ryan, owner/operator Governor Stumpy's Grill House
· Public Achievement Award - Chancellor Leo Morton
