DeLaSalle Breaks Ground for Expanded Campus

DeLaSalle Education Center, 3740 Forest Ave., held a groundbreaking ceremony to launch its $6.2 million expansion and renovation project. Students, faculty, staff, capital campaign committee members, elected officials, volunteers and Troost street businesses attended the event.

The renovation/expansion project at DeLaSalle will offer a modern school setting designed to address the comprehensive learning needs of the students. The DeLaSalle expansion will contribute to the revitalization of a city block in the heart of the urban core, serve as a catalyst for further redevelopment and stabilization along Troost, and support Kansas City's Troost Corridor Plan and the FOCUS Kansas City Strategic and Comprehensive Plan.

For the past 40 years, DeLaSalle Education Center has provided an alternative education in a holistic environment for urban youth from the under-served core of Kansas City, MO. Mark Williamson, DeLaSalle Executive Director, says "the School enhancements are an investment in the center's future over the next 40 years. The generosity of our donors will sustain the unique learning environment required for DeLaSalle students."
