The Kansas City Economic Development (KCMO CDE) has a Facade Improvement Loan Program (FILP) which was developed to stimulate investment in Kansas City’s highly distressed low-income communities.
This program focuses on main commercial corridors located within KC’s highly distressed low-income communities; specifically targeting commercial and retail properties along Troost Avenue, Independence Avenue, Truman Road, and Prospect Avenue. The program offers nontraditional, flexible financing for commercial property owners to update the exterior of their buildings to help create more attractive, safer, and stable business districts.
Property owners can apply for up to $50,000 at 5% interest for a 5 year term. Up to 10% loan forgiveness is also available. The FILP is administered by the KCMO CDE in partnership with the Economic Development Corp. and the Hispanic Economic Development Council. For more information, please contact Christine Kahm, KCMO CDE Program Manager at 816-216-1851.
