The Waldo Tower Historic Society is proud to announce that Phase One of the Waldo Water Tower restoration project is anticipated to begin in six to eight weeks. Phase One will include: roof replacement, concrete repair in the parapet, bird screens will be added to the windows, installation of a door at the west side of the base and removal of antennas and unused junction boxes.
The Waldo Tower Historic Society extends thanks to City Council Members John Sharp and Scott Taylor along with PIAC representatives Vanessa Claborn-Welch and Stacey Johnson-Cosby for their support of this project.
Phase Two will include the remainder of structural repairs, cleaning, painting and landscaping as proposed by Treanor Architects in the condition assessment. Once Phase One is completed, Parks & Recreation will have a better idea of what can be included in the second phase. The long range plans are for a lobby, an elevator and
an observation area in the balcony level. For more information about the Waldo Water Tower, visit the WTHS web site www.WaldoTower.org.
