The first and only Grossman Burn Center in the Midwest opened at Research Medical Center, 2316 E. Meyer Blvd., on December 4th and will serve not only the Greater Kansas City area, but also the outlying region. The Grossman Burn Center will offer 24-hour inpatient care, along with outpatient clinic by appointment.
Founded in 1969 in California, the Grossman Burn Center (GBC) has earned a worldwide reputation as the innovative leader in burn care. The GBC’s specialize in comprehensive burn care, from acute care and reconstruction, to rehabilitation and psychological counseling. They are known for expertise in providing acute and reconstructive burn care in a compassionate, nurturing, personalized, and team-centered environment, often resulting in less patient discomfort, speedier recoveries, and better results.
Matt Sogard, COO, Research Medical Center, notes that the comprehensive, patient-centered services offered by the GBC are in alignment with Medical Center’s mission of delivering the highest quality patient care possible. “When it comes to caring for a burn patient, the GBC’s staff works as a team,” says Sogard. “Burn injuries require specialized care that includes burn surgeons, specialty surgeons, critical care physicians, medical physicians, nurses, physical and
occupational therapists, nutritionists, social workers, respiratory therapists, chaplains, psychologists, and volunteers. This approach complements and enhances existing local burn care resources and gives patients and referring physicians an additional choice in determining a burn treatment regimen. This is an extremely positive development for our community.”
