Congratulations to the New Dime Store in Brookside for the beautiful Christmas display in the windows. “Customers kept buying the stuff out of the window, so it was hard to keep it looking good,” according to owner Kim Harris. Literacy KC was the charity selected to receive the $100 prize. Thanks to all of the Brookside businesses that did such a great job of decorating their storefronts!
Waldo businesses rose to the challenge to “Light up Waldo” in many innovative ways. Mayor Melissa Saubers (Brookside Roofing) and Mayor Pro Tem Norman Besheer (Gunter Pest Management) toured the area and were delighted with what they saw. In the end, it was the Family Bicycle’s Sleigh, Reindeer, and Rudolph all out of bikes/accessories that took home the First Place Prize. Mayor Saubers beamed, “It was very creative and extremely unique. We thank everyone in Waldo who got in the spirit. It was extremely hard to narrow it down, so many great choices.” Honorable Mentions went to Betty Tillotson’s Studio of Dance, Hiles II, Bledsoe’s Rentals, Kansas City Veterinary and Patrick’s Bar and No Grill.
