Earlier this year, HCA Midwest Health announced a $93 million investment from HCA Healthcare. The investment includes $23 million for Research Medical Center (RMC). “This new investment allows us to continue to provide high-quality and highly specialized care focused on complex, critical patients, close to home,” says Jackie DeSouza-Van Blaricum, RMC Chief Executive Officer.
RMC is expanding their critical care unit to 42 beds, adding a 10-bed dedicated Neuro ICU and four beds for critical burn patients. RMC is also adding a 20 plus-bed clinical decision unit expediting the care of patients transitioning from the ER and other units. Improvements already underway include the expansion of the inpatient Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation unit with specialized care for traumatic injury patients and the Research Brookside Free Standing Emergency Room, expanding from 11 to 20 beds.
