The 18th annual Southtown Business Exchange provided another great opportunity for people throughout the metropolitan area to meet and network. The first “Springboard to Success” event (as it was originally called) was held at the Landing Mall. Over time, the event moved to St. John’s Center, then to Cleveland Chiropractic College and now was held at Alphapointe at 75th and Prospect.
For the past two years, beer and wine tastings have been added to the wide array of delicious treats from area food vendors. Kansas City Bier Company was present to share their German beers, joining with Brookside Wine and Spirits, 75th St. Brewery, and Amigoni Wines. The food selections ranged from appetizers, pizzas and sandwiches, to tasty desserts. The Mean Vegans provided delicious samples and Stacey Davis from the Anita Gorman Conservation Discovery Center gave samples and tastings of wild game (see photo).
In 2001, Southtown joined forces with the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association (KCCVA) to extend the event to the entire metro area. Since that time, the after hours has grown, providing even greater opportunities for the attendees to showcase their goods and services.
Southtown extends thanks to Research Medical Center for their sponsorship, to all of the food vendors for their contributions, to the KCCVA for their partnership and especially to the volunteers on the Southtown Program Committee
