Did you know ...the oldest continuously operating business in Brookside is Drummond Cleaners?
Drummond Cleaners was among the original tenants of the Brookside Shops Building, 6237 Brookside Blvd., when J.C. Nichols opened this first Brookside development in 1920. Drummond Cleaners remained at that location until 1938, when they relocated to 6328 Wyandotte (now Brookside Plaza), where they remain today. A close runner-up is Shop Beautiful, which has been at their present location of 320 W. 63rd St. since 1938.

Did you know ....there's a Waldo connection to Harry Truman? Waldo Douglas Sloan, Dr. David Waldo's grandson, stated in an article he wrote about his grandfather, "My aunt, Mrs. Minnie Waldo Hill, who died in 1940, told me years ago that Dr. Waldo went into the banking business with Benjamin Wallace, who was Mrs. Harry Truman's grandfather, and that Mrs. Truman's father, David W. Wallace, was named for Dr. Waldo."
