Lions will charter a new club in Waldo

A new Lions Club is being formed in Waldo during January 2011. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with nearly 1.3 million men and women in approximately 45,000 clubs in 206 countries and geographical areas around the world. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to community service and serving youth throughout the world.
Lion Johnny Stabno of the Independence Host Lions Club and currently serving as District Governor for Missouri Lions District 26-M5 said: "I am proud to be part of an extension effort here in Kansas City that will form the new Lions club. We have several neighboring Kansas City clubs, especially the Kansas City Brookside Lions Club that serve part of this community and we see the need to expand those service opportunities with the rapid increase of requests for assistance. This new club will enable the Lions to offer more service to those in need in the community."
Several community members and leaders have signed up to become charter members for this new Lions club. If you are interested in providing service to your community, contact Lion Larry Cleveland at 816-525-5989 or Lion Johnny Stabno at 816-812-5236.
Most Lions clubs meet approximately twice a month and those meetings are approximately1 hour in duration. Lions club members serve where they live. For more information about Lions Clubs International, visit the web site at www.lionsclubs.org.
