Several tons of unwanted documents were safely disposed of on Saturday, June 9th at the annual Shred Event, sponsored by the Brookside Business Association’s Development Team.
During the first hot spell of the season, a crowd waited patiently for the 8 a.m. opening to have the opportunity to watch their documents shredded by the Cintas Management shredding truck in the parking lot near the tennis courts between Meyer Boulevard and Brookside Boulevard. Stacks and stacks of papers were dispatched quickly. By the end of the day, a total of 9,023 pounds of paperwork—a truckload full--had been shredded. The count included mountains of credit card receipts from merchants. In addition, nearby residents brought stacks of documents
hidden in basements and attics for many years. Veterans of this annual event came well-organized, preparing their documents for quick and easy drive-through unloading. After the initial rush, the traffic was fairly constant throughout the 4-hour, free event. The event was supported by donations and the volunteer efforts of Bank Midwest, Brookside Real Estate, Commerce Bank, Innovest Financial Partners, Missouri Bank, Paychex, Reller & Company, CPA, PC and REMAX Legacy.Special thanks to Price Chopper for hauling off items that couldn’t be shredded.
