Brookside Charter and Day School, 1815 E 63rd St., plans to expand its physical facilities. The expansion project will provide the facilities needed to accommodate the strategic vision for the school. Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2012 and to be completed by the start of school in August of 2013. Since 2009 Brookside has experienced significant enrollment growth. The Charter’s Board of Directors committed to make Brookside a seamless continuum of quality education and personal skills from Pre K through 8th grade, so for the past two years grades 6 and 7 were added and then 8th grade came this past year. The resulting growth in enrollment (now 400) exceeds the capacity of the existing building. Two modular classrooms were leased in 2011 and a third room has been delivered. Projected enrollment in expanded grades and classes to be housed in the expanded facilities is 650 students.
The expansion on the Brookside campus will include an extension of the existing academic building and the addition of a combination gymnasium, auditorium and performing arts center, which can also be made available for community events. Learn more at the Open House on August 23, 2012 from 5:30-7:00. Drop by and see the new plans for the expansion! RSVP to goddardt@brooksidecharteranddayschool.com. Feel free to invite others.
