Business is Booming in Waldo!

Health seems to be a major focus with the addition of the Waldo Wednesday Farmer's Market (303 W 79th St), the F3 Fitness Club (new location 214 W 75th St.) and the new fitness center,City Gyms (7416 Wornall Rd), coming this fall.Comfort Dental (8043 Wornall Rd) focuses on offering top-notch Dental Care at reasonable prices. Their GrandOpening is June 13-18th, with FREE Exams and X-rays all week.

Flowers Everywhere

"Spring has sprung, the grass has ris', I wonder where the flowers is?" You must have on blinders if you haven't noticed the sea of tulips throughout the community! This past fall, more than 10,000 tulips were planted in the south Troost Area with 500 bulbs at 76th and Troost; 6000 bulbs in beds around the new Marlborough Troost Bridge (85th and Troost Ave); and 1500 at Kindred Hospital (87th & Troost). UMKC once again planted a beautiful display of tulips in the 5300 and 5400 blocks of Troost and throughout the campus. Rockhurst University jumped on board planting more than 29,000 bright red tulips on the campus. The Hyde Park Neighborhood Association planted more than 3000 bulbs in a vacant lot in the 3300 block of Troost after removing several trailer loads of construction debris from the site with the help of 15 to 20 volunteers. The second annual New Year's Day plantings took place at the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority at 18th and Troost.

Alpine-Litho-Graphics Southtown Sparkle Award

New to Troost Avenue and looking good is Alpine Litho-Graphics, 8640 Troost Ave. For the past two years, the abandoned property was completely refinished inside and out. This past year, the outside was finished with new paint, landscaping and the relocation of the parking lot to the rear of the building.

Deadline Nears

The 2011/12 Brookside, Waldo, and Southtown Directory, The Link, is under development. All members of these three organizations are listed in both the alpha and category sections. If you have not joined the organization, now is the time. June 1 is the deadline for inclusion.

Advertisement space is still available in the book. Ad commitments are needed before the end of May. More than 8000 directories are printed and distributed throughout the community. Advertising rates range from $175 and up- such a deal! New this year: add color to your message for an extra $50. For more details, contact the office at 816-523-5553.
