The Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA) took the first step toward granting a tax abatement for a proposed $45 million senior-housing development on the Research Medical Center Brookside Campus. During its monthly meeting, the PIEA voted unanimously to authorize a blight study and approve a general development plan for a 13.3-acre portion of the 37-acre outpatient campus. If blight is determined, Sonoma Development Partners LLC will seek property tax abatement.

Waldo Tower Historic Society

The Waldo Tower Historic Society, a certified 501(c) (3) organization, was founded with its sole mission to preserve the water tower located in Tower Park at 75th Street & Holmes. The society has support from Councilwomen Jan Marcason and Beth Gottstein, Water Department, Parks & Recreation Department, as well as area homes and business associations.
