Mark Ledom, president of Diversified Asset Management Co. purchased Highlands Professional Tower, 6724 Troost Ave. in August of 2013. Ledom and his son, Matt, a sales associate for Block Real Estate Services, plan to develop the 4.2 acre site, to be named Brookside Village, into approximately 225 independent senior apartment units that would include the current tower as well as two new buildings. They plan to start construction once all approvals are completed. They look forward to developing a community for seniors that will allow them to stay in their neighborhood as they transition to alternative housing options.
The Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA)agreed to add the site to its current Troost Rockhill PIEA area, which makes the project eligible for property tax abatement. With support from the PIEA, the Ledoms said they plan to transform the property into a resort-style senior living community that includes amenities such as an indoor zero-entry pool with adjoining spa, state-of-the-art fitness facility, bowling alley with billiards & pub, theater area, barber shop/salon, community room with a café and much more! Outdoor features will include manicured grounds with a walking trail, dog park, sport court and gathering areas, all within the gated community.
The Ledoms have already made an impact with general clean-up of the area that included the removal of 53 dead bushes and trees and cleaning up the living landscape. Thanks for making Southtown sparkle!
