The Waldo Area Business Association Property Committee selected Pistachios Embroidery & Gifts, 205 E Gregory Blvd., for the May Waldo Best award. In business for 5 years, owner Sharon [img_assist|nid=677|title=Pistachios|desc=|link=node|align=right|width=320|height=240] Kennedy started working from home and grew into this current and largest location last July after being tucked away at Hathaway Shoes on Wornall Rd. Kennedy was born and raised in the Brookside/Waldo area and has never considered living anywhere else.
According to Kennedy, "One of the big benefits of the new location was the opportunity for signage that reflected the spirit of the business. So, Pistachios placed a large, pistachio green awning on the front of the building featuring the Pistachios logo. The new awning brightened the facade of the building and has been key in customers' ability to locate the shop." The bright awning and large front windows now offer customers and passersby a glimpse of the colorful products featured inside. This is the first large, windowed storefront for Pistachios and the business is benefitting from the added visibility. Other improvements include outside planters, interior paint and new lighting.
