The Southtown Beautification Committee selected Saint Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E. 52nd St., for the October Sparkle Award! The landscaping this year has been beautiful, especially the mums!
[img_assist|nid=390|title=Saint Francis Xavier Church|desc=|link=node|align=right|width=419|height=312]The “fish church” was designed by Barry Byrne, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. St. Francis Xavier Church is Kansas City’s Jesuit parish, a diverse Roman Catholic parish that draws parishioners from all over the metro area including both sides of the State Line. The parish was established in 1915. The current church building was dedicated in 1950!
This past year, an earth-friendly sustainable sprinkler system was installed, major landscaping was added, retaining walls were built and the parking lot and driveways were resurfaced. These major improvements truly make St. Francis Xavier sparkle!
Congratulations to the St. Francis Xavier Church! Thanks for the investment and for making Southtown sparkle!
