Spay and Neuter Kansas City (SNKC) is a 501c3 organization, formed in 2002. It works closely with private practice veterinarians dedicated to the concept of providing low-cost spay and neuter services for those with financial need. SNKC does not provide subsidized surgery to those who can readily afford such services, nor does it expect private veterinarians to provide services free of charge. SNKC raises funds to pay private veterinarians for surgery for pet owners who otherwise could not afford to have their pets neutered.
This past year, SNKC moved from their location on Main Street into a portion of the MAST Maintenance Building at 59th and Troost Avenue. A complete overhaul was made to the facility inside and out! The garage area was subdivided into rooms for various pet services, walls were painted, lighting refurbished and the place looks spick and span! On the outside, the south end of the building was painted and repaired. Major landscaping was done around the facilities.
SNKC targets pet owners with pets that are at high-risk of contributing to pet overpopulation. They also offer pet necessities to owners that are experiencing difficulty meeting their pet’s basic needs such as food, water and shelter. Services include spay and neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, dewormer, and pet outreach. The business is open from 7:30a-4:30p Monday through Friday and 9a-3p on Saturday.
