Start off the September Troost Art Hop on the second Friday (September 12) at Studio RM Gardner, 1017 E. 55th St., for a special Troost Ave CID Happy Hour event from 6-7pm. The reception, “The Summer Draw,” will continue from 7-10pm for the public arts crawl. This exhibition will feature a salon-style collection of drawings from the artist's wide-ranging summer drawing project. Light refreshments will be available. See previews of the artwork on the artist's website at www.rmgardner.com.
In late 2011, a group of artists in Kansas City got together to begin a new tradition along Troost Ave. As a branching out to an already art-conscious local community, a simple idea was put forth that they would “open their doors” once a month to show off their art, get together, share food, talk, and have fun with a large emphasis on action-art, music, drumming, and dance. Since the beginning, the idea was that performance and actual making of art would be seen at the Troost Art Hop. We hope you can experience the Troost Art Hop in the near future!
