Job Shadowing Needed

Southwest Early College Campus participates in Missouri’s A+ Schools Program providing financial assistance with tuition and fees to any public community college or vocational school in MO to those high school graduates that meet the requirements. In addition to grades, attendance, citizenship, etc., mentoring/tutoring hours are required.

Job shadowing can qualify for 25% of the mentoring time, (12.5 hours). Students are required to meet the same requirements of regular employees for each company, in terms of reporting, attire, behavior. Business Spotlight– Dental Care 50

The area’s dental program for seniors, Dental Care 50, 912 E. 63rd St., is pleased to announce that Frank Schloegel, IV joined his father, Frank Schloegel, III, in running the family-owned business. Schloegel III created the business 25 years ago as a simple and affordable way to provide low cost dental care to people over 50. Schloegel IV, previously an attorney in Brooklyn, NY, plans to expand the dental program to include options for small businesses and people still working.

2013 Garden Tour

Garden TourGarden TourThe Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City announce their 2013 Garden Tour, “Unique Gardens of South Kansas City,” taking place Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8, 9am to 4:30pm. This biennial garden tour will focus on seven beautiful gardens in the areas south of the Plaza between Ward Parkway and Troost Avenue. This area encompasses the older, unique neighborhoods of Crestwood, Brookside and Waldo. Wornall House Upcoming Events

Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30
Bring your own basket and search for treat-filled eggs (including the golden ones!) in the herb garden and lawn at the Wornall House Easter Egg Hunt at 1pm on Saturday, March 30, 6115 Wornall Rd. The event is for children up to 12 years old. $3 per child; Parental supervision required. Reservations are not necessary.

A Taste of Southtown

The Annual Southtown After Hours event, “The Taste of Southtown,” promises to be new and
different this year. The event will take place on Thursday, March 7th at Alphapointe from 5-7pm. High top tables will be in place for area businesses/organizations to display their materials, delicious food will be provided by local restaurants, and we have added a “tasting” of beer and wine. Three to four large prize drawings will be held at the end of the event.
