Sponsored by the Women’s Business Center, this program will help develop a start-up plan that will help you not only start, but succeed in business. This multi-week course will give you a specific road map to start a business, expose you to subject matter experts such as accountants, lawyers marketing experts and more.

Calling All Youth….It’s Time to Get Involved

The Engage KC Leadership Board is designed to engage young people with an interest in public service and build leadership capacity for those interested in careers in this field. Participants must be a Kansas City resident, enrolled in high school or college, and must be between 16-22 years of age. The board will serve a six month term, meeting at least two days a month for workshops from January through June.

Bayou Bash- Christ the King Auction 2013

The Annual Christ The King Auction has been scheduled for Friday, February 15, 2013 from 5pm to 10pm. This is the largest fundraiser of the year for Christ The King School, 425 W. 85th St. The evening includes a Cajun Shrimp Boil, silent and live auctions, raffle, and an amazing dessert table. New this year are: sponsor tables that include premier seating, tickets, etc.; souvenir refillable cups; Hurricane Punch, and a photo booth. Eats and Sweets Is Open

Need a place to have a breakfast meeting or lunch with friends? There is a perfect place at 434 W 85th Street, the old Dairy Queen location. Eats and Sweets is under the same management and they are eager to see their old friends come by to experience the new menu with familiar faces. The breakfast menu includes delicious pancakes, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and more.

Holiday Lighting Contests!

holiday lightingLet’s put our community in lights! In Waldo this season, you can enjoy the holiday displays of Santa’s sleigh, carolers, a Christmas Tree, and more. In Brookside, the buildings will be lit with the annual green lights and Brookside Court will be turned into a lit fantasy land.

The Waldo Area Business Association encourages businesses to do their part by lighting up windows and/or creating lighting displays to light up Waldo for the holidays. Each participating business will have their “name in lights” on the WABA website, in Facebook and more! Plus, the winner will be featured in Everything Waldo Facebook page and in the Link Letter. Get started now! Judging takes place on December 15th. All decorations should remain up through January 1 to help celebrate until the Waldo Ball Drop on New Year’s Eve. The Brookside Business Association, likewise, is encouraging business owners to light up their storefronts and decorate their windows. The Window Decorating Contest begins in December. The winner will have $100 presented to their charity of choice. All participants will be recognized on the website and Facebook. For more details, call 816-523-5553. “Christmas in the Park” takes place on Thursday, Dec. 6, 6pm in Brookside Court, featuring the sounds of local musicians and choirs, light refreshments, prize drawings, Santa, and much more.
