Ambulance Service

The Kansas City, MO Fire Department is making it a priority to inform its citizens about the affordable ambulance service membership plan for Medically Necessary emergency transports. The cost is $59/year for insured households or $99/year for uninsured households.

Here’s how it works. The Fire Department bills your medical insurance carrier, and whatever is not covered, is written off. For example, the average ambulance cost is about $900. If you have health insurance that pays 50% of the cost, the Ambulance membership pays the balance. For more information or for brochures, contact Debra Venerable at 816-300-8828.

Walkability in Brookside

Anyone who has traveled through Brookside recently has seen a lot of improvements. The north side of Brookside is now easier to navigate, thanks to the new sidewalks and parking lot striping. Previously you could not walk from JUlIAn to Elements-Wellness spa studio without traveling in the street or in the parking lot. Now there are beautiful, wide sidewalks that allow pedestrians to get from Brookside Plaza to Main Street. The parking lot across from the Brookside Market has been given a face-lift as well with a new parking lot configuration. The new design allows for easier parking and less congestion. The Brookside Community Improvement District board strives to improve the pedestrian-friendly areas and ensure the safety of those walking, biking or driving through the Brookside district.
